What follows are some of the topics DeWine may discuss during Wednesday’s briefing, which will stream live in the video player above.

As has been the case for the better part of the past month, the COVID-19 vaccine figures to be one of the primary topics of conversation at Wednesday’s press briefing.

After Ohio began its distribution of the vaccine to frontline workers and congregate living facilities earlier this month, DeWine announced last week that the next phase of distribution would include people 65-years-or-older, those with developmental disabilities and schools. Wednesday could see DeWine update the timeline for that phase to begin and perhaps share insight into how many people have already been vaccinated and who will be next in line.

Ahead of both Thanksgiving and Christmas, Gov. DeWine issued stern warnings regarding the danger that traditional holiday gatherings could cause. Expect a similar warning for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day on Wednesday — especially with big games for the Ohio State football team and Cleveland Browns in the days ahead.

On Tuesday, Gov. DeWine’s office approved a variance allowing the Cleveland Cavaliers to host up to 1,944 fans at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse at games this season. Considering that such large indoor gatherings hadn’t been permitted since March, DeWine could face questions regarding why his office chose to approve the variance and whether similar variances could follow.
