WhatsApp will soon let you hide your online status from everyone: Check details

WhatsApp is working on a feature that will give iOS users the ability to hide their online status from everyone. This function will come in a future update, and it’s already in development, reports WABetaInfo

Currently, WhatsApp allows users to hide their last seen status, status, and other things. But users cannot hide their ‘online status’ from their contacts on WhatsApp.

According to WABetaInfo, future features of WhatsApp on iOS will allow users to hide their current activity status and even their online status from specific users or everyone.

WhatsApp is working on the ability to hide the online status

WhatsApp is finally listening to user feedback by developing a feature. This will let us choose who can see when we are online on WhatsApp

Now, it will be possible to configure who can see when you are online right within the last seen settings. Thanks to two new options: “Everyone” and “Same as Last Seen”. For example, if you choose “My contacts” for “Last Seen” and “Same as Last Seen” for “online. It means non-contacts won’t be able to see when you’re online

If you select the “Everyone” option before posting a status your last seen, profile photo, about, or status will be available to all WhatsApp users. If you select ‘My Contacts’, your last seen, profile photo, about, or status will be available to your contacts from your address book only. Similarly, if you select ‘My Contacts Except.., your last seen, profile photo, about, or status will be available to your contacts from your address book, except those you exclude and if you select ‘Nobody’, Your last seen, profile photo, about, or status won’t be available to anyone.

WhatsApp will soon roll out an option that would let users choose who can see when they are online.

Announcing the feature update on Twitter, WhatsApp noted, “To further protect your privacy online, we’re rolling out new options to your privacy control settings. Now you can select who from your contact list can see your Profile Photo, About, and Last Seen status.” Previously, users did not have the option of hiding their last seen and status updates from specific people. The users only had three options, such as “Everyone”, “My Contacts” and “Nobody”. Now users also have the “My Contacts except” option.

WhatsApp is also working on a new feature that will allow users to put in an appeal in case their account blocks due to any reason. WhatsApp deletes or suspends accounts in bulk every day for users who do not comply with the terms and conditions of the platform. These messages can also be deleted via an automated system. Hence, there are chances that it might delete accounts mistakenly as well.
